So the weekend came and went without incident aside from some kids accusing us of being racist for having books on Nazi-era wartime and the RESERVE fitted cap (donning the Star of David)… guess they overlooked our books on Malcolm X & Civil Rights to name just a few. Or the fact that Cappone & Noriega’s CNN War Report was bumping the whole time they were here. Oh well, what you gonna do? It seems that “streetwear” is becoming more and more conservative as the money comes flooding in from anywhere but the streets. So if you attempt to educate or open the minds of some of these young bucks out there, beware. Blah, Blah… sorry.
One other interesting thing I came across this weekend was a poster baring an amazing illustration of FRESHJIVES’ own Rick Klotz.
He loved it and actually ended up on some sort of date with not one, but two girls who also found the poster entertaining. Many thanks go out to whom ever put these up.
Here are some new books to ponder over as well… really good stuff.
Lady Lisa Lyon- Robert Mapplethorpe (1983)
Public Relations- New British Photography (1997)
Variation- Rene’ Groebli (1965)
Illustration West 18- Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles (1979)
