Modern Publicity is an annual survey of the best graphic designs in international advertising and communications. The illustrations in this book were selected from over 7000 entries submitted by designers all over the world. The book contains separate sections on poster design, press advertising, direct mail, trademarks and house-styles, letterheads, packaging, TV and film advertising, new typefaces, and book jackets. Illustrations in b/w and color.
Excerpt from preface:
“Our 1968/69 edition marked the acceptance of the Pop style and its techniques which had emerged in the previous year. This year, Pop has become so much appreciated that it has become almost old fashioned, though it has often been further developed, in the “Roll Out Red Barrel” poster, in Alan Aldridge’s Skyjacker cover and in the remotely related surrealism of Heinz Edelmann, whose work really preceded this style. In general, Pop trends have been absorbed by the advertisements for pop music and other cultural events.”
$35.00, phone orders available. Call the shop at (323) 651-0131.
